How to Turn Off Lock Screen, Start and Action Center Advertising in Windows 10

Windows 10 is one of the most popular operating system released by Microsoft. Even it is excellent overall, but its excessive use of in-box ads is really irritating. Here in this post, you will find out how to turn it all off.

Windows 10 provided all the Windows 7 and Windows 8 users with a genuine product key for free under free upgrade program. But all the users who’re using Windows 10 for free already paying a hidden price in the form of ads which appear in the Start, Lock Screen as well as in Action Center. These ads in return indirectly force you to purchase apps, games and various services which you want or require.

Even the worst part is that, if you have paid $200 for a copy of Windows 10 Pro edition or $120 for a copy of Windows 10 Home edition, you will still see these annoying ads everywhere as discussed above. Here is what you need to do:

Turn Off Windows 10 Start Ads

1. Launch the Windows 10 Settings app. For that, WIN + I hotkeys.

2. Click on the Personalization -> Start.

3. On the right pane, turn off the option which reads “Occasionally show suggestions in Start”.

Remove Windows 10 Lock screen Ads

1. Launch the Windows 10 Settings app. For that, WIN + I hotkeys.

2. Click on the Personalization -> Lock Screen.

3. On the right pane, use the background drop-down menu and choose Picture | Slideshow.

4. Now look for the option which reads “Get fun facts, tips, and more from Windows and Cortana on your lock screen” and turns it off.

Note: You will only see this option if you select Picture or Slideshow as using background drop-down menu.

Turn Off Windows 10 Action Center | Notification Ads

1. Launch the Windows 10 Settings app. For that, WIN + I hotkeys.

2. Click on the System -> Notifications & actions.

3. On the right pane, look for the option which reads “Get tips, tricks, and suggestion as you use Windows“.

1. Launch the Windows 10 Settings app. For that, WIN + I hotkeys.

2. Click on the Devices -> Pen & Windows Ink.

3. On the right pane, under “Windows Ink Workspace“, look for the option which reads “Show recommended app suggestions” and turn it off.

Turn Off Windows 10 Cortana search box Ads

1. Launch Windows 10 Cortana app in the Taskbar.

2. Click on the “Settings” (Gear) icon available on the left side.

3. Here you need to look for “Taskbar Tidbits” and turn it off.

In the latest builds of Windows 10 Creators update, the company has started showing ads in Windows 10 File Explorer and chances are high that the company will make this change permanent in the final build of Windows 10 Creators update.
