In the Windows 10 Creators Update Insider Preview build 14997, the company has included the settings that let you turn on or enable a blue light mode in Windows 10 to reduce eye strain.
For those who’re not aware of Blue Light Mode, it is a new feature of Windows 10 that reduce the blue light to reduce the risk of disturbing your sleep as well as decrease the eye strain which you feel while working on the PC or laptop.
When Blue light mode is enabled in the Windows 10, it reduces the blue light and makes the screen color gamma more relaxed for your eyes at the night time.
The colors of the screen become warmer and the backlight will faint and in return, you will experience less strain on the eyes.

The tutorial is based on the Windows 10 Creators Update Insider Preview build 14997, which is not available publicly yet. Enable Blue Light Reduction Mode in Windows 10
There are two different ways to enable and disable Blue Light reduction mode in Windows 10 using
- Quick Action button in the Action Center
- Settings apps
In the settings app, you will find out more options to tweak this feature. While the Quick Access button is available to enable the Blue Light mode quickly.
Here is how you can enable the Blue Light mode using the following methods
Enable Blue Light Reduction Mode using Quick Action Button
Click on the Quick Action Center icon which is available at the bottom right side of the screen on the Taskbar.
Alternatively, you can press WIN + A keys to launch the same.
This will open the Quick Action Center pane, on the right side of the screen. Here you need to click on the Expand link.
Now you will see the more Quick Action buttons. In the pane, you will find button the which reads Blue Light. Simply click on it to enable the Blue Light mode.
This will quickly enable the blue light reduction functionality with default settings.

Enable Blue Light Reduction Mode using Settings App
To find out more options to tweak this feature, you can use Settings app. Here is what you need to do to reach there:
Launch the Settings app. For quick access press the WIN + I keys
Here navigate to System -> Display.
On the right pane, Under Display, you will see color heading under it, move the toggle and enable the option which reads “Lower blue light automatically”
Below this, click on the Blue Light Settings link. This will open the new page. Here you can manage the color temperature at the night as well as schedule hours when you need to automatically enable the blue light reduction feature.
This is really a useful feature for the users who spent lots of time working on the PC or Laptop. According to some research, the blue light emitted by the electronic devices screen is harmful to our body as it reduces the excretion of the melatonin ( a sleep-inducing hormone) which in return disturb sleep.
So it is highly recommended to enable Blue Light mode at night time to reduce the blue light exposure for healthy sleep and reduce the eye strain.
